We have this crisis, in obtaining sterile disposable Glidescope blades in the UK. This problem appears to stay till the end of this year.
Verathon is offering non-sterile blades as an alternative and is available. We would like to see a DAS guidance on this issue. In my practice Glidescope is the most efficient VLS now. It is good for our colleagues and for our patients. Going back on the Direct Macintosh is many steps backward.
So, my question is, is it advisable to use clean, but non-sterile Glidescope blades for clinical practice? I would like to hear your views and practical solutions please.
A solution would help so many non-airway anaesthetists too.
