Birmingham Anaesthesia Schools Difficult Airway Rescue Techniques
Course Details
This course is aimed at anyone wishing to enhance or practice their skills in managing the expected and unexpected difficult airway.
The course lasts one day, is accredited for 5 CEPD points from the RCOA and gives candidates over 4 hours of practical, hands on time.
The day consists of:
- Introductory lecture based on plan A, B, C, D
- Video reconstruction of Mr Bromiley's wife's case
- Lectures from experienced faculty detailing cases which went wrong.
- Scenario practice
- Special guest speaker
Workshops on:
- Fibreoptic intubation - through nasal, oral, berman airway and LMA
- ILMA
- Supraglottic airways/improving the view - Proseal, i-gel, LMA supreme
- Airtraq, Videoscope, Bonfils
- CICV - surgical cricothyroidotomy, small and large cannula cricothyroidotomy and Manujet ventilation
There is then a summary and roundup of the days' events and the DAS guidelines are reinforced. The course is led by an experienced consultant faculty, with industry support. The emphasis is on learning in a friendly, fun environment.
There are 16 places and 8 Faculty.
