Course Details


An ongoing series of one day simulator based courses dealing with technical skills, Team behaviours and Non-technical skills (Human factors) in airway management.

This innovative one day course for “those who work together” in operating theatre environment. It is aimed at anaesthetists and their theatre team members (i.e. ODP/anaesthetic nurse/anaesthetic practitioner/theatre/recovery staff) to train together as a team.

Learn the role of technical and non technical skills (Human Factors) in airway crisis management. How to avoid error and not to get into a crisis!!

The course includes interactive classroom teaching, group play, simulation-based scenario practice and critique from experts in airway management and clinical human factors. This course is offered in partnership with Guy Hirst and Trevor Dale from Atrainability Ltd - www.atrainability.co.uk.

 

This course aims to highlight importance of

  • Human factors in avoiding error and crisis management
  • Leadership, communication and hierarchical barriers
  • Situational awareness and decision making
  • Briefing and debriefing skills
  • Risk management, avoidance and planning

Places are limited. Priority will be given to those who register as a team (Anaesthetist with theatre staff) from individual NHS Trust. However, individual anaesthetists and theatre team members are welcome to apply.
